Shadows in the Light
At the beginning of the Second Era, the Three nations of man lived in relative peace and harmony expanding at a rapid rate for nearly a century. Humanities pace quickened with the founding of a fourth Human kingdom; Moryn, a nation build up around the theories and ideologies of science and literature. In Second Era 241, The College of Hederide created the first living construct, a simple mechanical device designed in the shape of an owl who’s primary operation was to fly around the Colleges Great Library delivering messages between the many scholars. Nearly 100 years later, a man by the name of Drufig Nesmor designed and created the first self-aware construct. Designed to look and act like a man, it was a huge step forward in the scientific community proving that man was in control of the world, not god or any mythical entity. The construct titled “Animated Living Fabrication” nicknamed ALF by it’s creator, was not just a functioning machine, but a machine capable of rationalizing thought, making decisions, and experience feeling. Not long after creation, Drufig Nesmor died of a heart attack, taking the secret to artificial life with him to the grave. But the secret was not lost for long. within 100 years, the college rediscovered Drufig Nesmor old theories and attempted to recreate his success. At first, there attempts where limited if not crude at bes, as they could only replicate his most simplest designs. But after a few short year they had almost perfected the art and had given birth to a new, self concious race of beings. The Forged.
The Holy Empire, commonly referred to as the Empire, begun with the reign of The Holy King of Nisyr; Emperor Farengur Brutinus, who was a compassionate in his way of rule yet stern when need called for it. The Emperor came to power after the passing of his father in late Second Era 874. The young king, only 23 years of age, had never before had such power and responsibility before and was initially unsuccessful in his rule relying heavily on the wits and skills of his advisor’s to run his nation. But over time, the king adjusted himself to his new rule and took hold of his duties. In Second Era 879, the King declared War on the Proud Nations of Athusk, and Issere, in hopes of expanding his Kingdom, A feat which his father had deemed impossible due to the vast wealth of Athusk and the uncanny use of Magic from the noble warriors of Issere. In late mid-winter of Second Era 887, King Farengur launched his first Assault against the Nation of Athusk, and was met with Heavy resistance. Although the Armies of Athusk were small, they were the best equipped into known world, possessing large armies of living constructs and complex war-machines. To combat this, the King had employed a more cunning movement, launching small scale attacks on the Northern Boarder drawing the Armies of Athusk out and Northward while a secondary Force invaded from the south by sea. Completely caught off guard by this tactic, the Nation of Athusk divided their forces to combat the two invasions. Although their initial response was successful in thwarting Nisyr’s attacks, they had been spread to thin to effectively control the advance of soldiers. In the late-summer of Second Era 888, The King of Nisyr launched a third and final invasion of Athusk, this time from within. Disguised as travelling merchants, 50 Vargian Soldiers entered the Capital of Athusk, their main goal to seize control of the cities gates and to capture the Stone Citadel. Not long before entering, their had achieved their main goal and had let the waiting soldiers enter the city. Not long After, the Nation of Athusk had surrendered, their government disassembled, and their armies redeployed.
Not willing to risk all out war with a growing enemy, the Nation of Issere Surrendered peacefully seeing it as the only logical solution not involving the destruction of their people and customs. Having conquered the 2 most feared nations in the known world, the King changed the pace again dissolving all the remaining governments of the 3 nations and creating one new government run by the Noble houses of each nation, with him as their sole Emperor. And so begins the Third Era
